About GRL
ジェンダー・リサーチ・ライブラリ（ＧＲＬ）は、名古屋大学と公益財団法人東海ジェンダー研究所との連携により、ジェンダー問題に関する研究、教育、研究者の育成、ならびに男女平等意識の啓発、普及に向けて、フェミニズム、ジェンダー研究に関わる図書、雑誌、リーフレットやパンフレットなど、多様な文献、史･資料を蒐集・保存するとともに、研究者はじめ学生、市民など多くの方々に利用いただくことで、ジェンダー研究を実践的に発展させていくことを目的に創設されました。
GRL創設の目的は次の3点です。
The Gender Research Library (GRL) at Nagoya University was established in cooperation with Nagoya University and the Tokai Foundation for Gender Studies to research, educate, and train researchers in gender studies and to raise and disseminate awareness of gender equality in society. The GRL collects and preserves various literature, historical materials related to feminism and gender studies, including books, journals, pamphlets, and brochures. The GRL promotes the development of gender studies by making them available to researchers, students, and the public.

ジェンダー問題についての〈知〉を長く保存し、ジェンダー研究者等に提供するためのライブラリとアーカイブを構築する。
We build the library and archives to preserve ≪knowledge≫ of gender-related problems and assist gender researchers.

ジェンダーに関する制度や実践を研究し、21世紀の知のパラダイム・チェンジに貢献する。
We contribute to the paradigm change of 21st-century knowledge by studying gender-related systems and practices.

国内外のジェンダー問題に関する研究、普及およびネットワークの拠点を形成する。
We are developing the network hub for gender research in Japan and abroad and spreading its knowledge.
当初収蔵の図書、史資料には、東海ジェンダー研究所の蔵書に加えて、研究所顧問である水田珠枝氏より研究所に寄贈された蔵書（「水田珠枝文庫」）、研究所にゆかりのある方々からの寄贈による図書、史資料およびアーカイブのほか、コレクションなどがあり、図書は合わせて20,000冊余りとなります。
開館以降は、フェミニズム・ジェンダー研究が総合的な研究領域であることをふまえ、人文・社会・自然の諸科学全般におよぶ広汎な研究領域のジェンダー研究文献の蒐集・保存を行っていきます。
また、展示スペースによる図書、史･資料の展示、蔵書および新着図書の紹介、2階レクチャールームを会場とするシンポジウム、セミナー、講演会、研究会、読書会などの企画、開催を通じて、学内外の研究者、学生、市民に利用いただき、ジェンダー研究の進展と普及をはかるとともに、国内外との学術的ネットワークを構築することによってジェンダー研究を深化させ、21世紀以降の「知の拠点」となることをめざします。
Our primary collection is donated by the Tokai Foundation for Gender Studies（TFGS） and Professor Emerita Tamae Mizuta of Nagoya University of Economics, also a TFGS advisor. As gender research is a cross-disciplinary and comprehensive field, The GRL gathers and preserves many books and materials.
We are open to anyone interested in feminism and gender problems.

名古屋大学ジェンダー・リサーチ・ライブラリ（GRL）は、ジェンダー問題に関する研究、教育、研究者の育成、ならびに男女平等意識の啓発、普及に向けて、フェミニズム、ジェンダー研究に関わる図書、雑誌、リーフレットやパンフレットなど、多様な文献、史･資料を蒐集・保存するとともに、研究者はじめ学生、市民など多くの方々に利用いただくことで、ジェンダー研究を実践的に発展させていくことをめざしています。
GRLのようなジェンダーをテーマとした研究活動施設は全国的にも珍しく、その個性的でユニークなありかたは、21世紀の〈知〉のパラダイム・チェンジに貢献しうる大きな可能性を有しています。
GRLがジェンダー研究を深化させ、その成果を社会に還元できる〈知〉の拠点へと成長していくためには、文献、史資料を散逸させることなく、蒐集、保存、整理し、広く提供できるライブラリ、アーカイブの存在が不可欠です。
GRLが、先人たちの〈知〉の営みを次代に継承していけるよう、みなさまのご支援を賜りたく、お願い申し上げます。
The Gender Research Library (GRL) at Nagoya University collects and preserves a wide variety of literature, historical materials related to feminism and gender studies, including books, journals, pamphlets, and brochures, for the research, education, and development of researchers on gender issues, and the awareness and dissemination of gender equality. The GRL also aims to develop gender studies practically by making these materials available to researchers, students, citizens.
The GRL is a rare institution in Japan for research activities on gender, and its unique approaches have great potentials to contribute to a paradigm shift in knowledge in the 21st century. For the GRL to deepen gender studies and grow into a knowledge center that can return the results to society, it is essential to have a library and archive that can collect, preserve, organize, and widely distribute literature and historical materials without dispersing them.
We want to ask for your support so that the GRL can pass on the “knowledge” of our predecessors to the next generation.
